Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality Approves Construction and Development Plan for Reuth Tel Aviv Rehabilitation Hospital

The Tel Aviv-Yafo Local Planning and Building Committee has approved the construction and development plan for Reuth TLV Rehabilitation Hospital. The approval marks a key preliminary step toward the issuance of a building permit for the project.

The new hospital campus will cover approximately 16 dunams in the Sde Dov district, on Levitov Zohara Street, alongside additional public buildings. Reuth TLV Rehabilitation Hospital will relocate from the Yad Eliyahu neighborhood to the new Sde Dov campus, strengthening Tel Aviv-Yafo’s position as a leading center for healthcare and rehabilitation in Israel.

The hospital will include approximately 540 beds, expanded day-hospitalization services, treatment spaces, a hydrotherapy pool, an imaging institute, and a research and development incubator. The campus will also feature green spaces and hospitality areas for patients and families. In addition, the site will include a supported community residential building for seniors with more than 200 housing units, as well as three daycare classrooms for toddlers. The project is expected to be completed within six years.

The plan emphasizes active street-level frontages, direct access to the linear park being developed in the Sde Dov area, and the integration of rooftop and terrace spaces for patients, visitors, and staff. Architectural planning is led by MYS Architects, with a focus on efficient use of space, protected areas, and a vibrant commercial area on the entrance level.

The project cost is estimated at approximately NIS 1.1 billion, funded through a combination of government and internal sources. Commercial and philanthropic partnerships are also being advanced, including donations raised by the Tel Aviv Foundation, which is approaching its 50th anniversary.

Mayor of Tel Aviv–Yafo, Ron Huldai:“The approval of the Reuth TLV Rehabilitation Hospital plan is a signifi

cant step in strengthening Israel’s rehabilitation system and reinforcing Tel Aviv-Yafo’s leadership in public healthcare. Since October 7 and during the Swords of Iron War, the national importance of advanced rehabilitation services has become even clearer. The municipality will continue to invest in infrastructure that serves the city, the metropolitan area, and the State of Israel.”

Chairman of the Reuth Association, Prof. Nachman Ash:“This approval represents another important milestone toward the establishment of the new hospital. Our partnership with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and the Tel Aviv Foundation will enable Reuth to expand rehabilitation services and further enhance the quality of care for thousands of patients across Israel.”

Reuth TLV, marking its 65th anniversary, is a public university-affiliated hospital connected to the Gray Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Tel Aviv University. The hospital is recognized for excellence in rehabilitation and geriatrics and operates orthopedic, neurological, head injury, geriatric, and respiratory rehabilitation divisions, alongside Israel’s largest rehabilitation day-hospitalization program and a post-trauma rehabilitation center serving those affected by the events of October 7 and the war.

The Tel Aviv Foundation works to improve quality of life in the city through Israeli and international philanthropy. In partnership with the municipality, it initiates and supports long-term urban projects and operates a matching program under which the municipality matches every donation raised by the foundation.
